MP Govt announces Rs 8,000 cr for women welfare scheme in Budget

Finance Minister Jagdish Deora presented a Budget of Rs 3.14 lakh crore for the year 2023-24 in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. As ‘The Hitavada’ reported on February 9 with headline ‘State Budget likely to focus on welfare schemes.......its size will be Rs 3 lakh crore’, this Budget echoes populist welfare schemes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections later this year. Main proposals among those
are Rs 300 crore announcement under the food subsidy scheme operated for the tribal class and Rs 8,000 crore for Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana (an amount of Rs 1,000 per month will be deposited in the bank account of non-tax payee women.) and Rs 3,500 crore for National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Budget reflects Government’s Atmanirbhar MP push. It has announced the provisions of Rs 277 crore for PM Shree Yojana, Rs 1,000 crore for the Mukhyamantri Krishak Vishal Jan Sahayata Yojana. Construction of 3346 cow shelters has been approved under the Chief Minister Gauseva Yojana. After the budget speech of Finance Minister Jagdish Deora, the House proceedings were adjourned till Thursday. Rs 710 crore for Indore-Bhopal Metro Project. It promised to create over one lakh Government job opportunities and also assured to send 200 youths to Japan. The moment State Finance Minister Jagdish Deora started reading out the Budget proposals, Opposition leaders and former ministers Tarun Bhanot, Vijay Laxmi Sadho and Jitu Patwari created ruckus in the House over the LPG price hike. Later, Congress staged a walkout from the Assembly. According to the Government, “An attempt has been made to include the suggestions of the public in preparing the Budget. It is ‘Budget of the Public’ Highlights - About 20 per cent of the total Budget provision which is 4% of the State’s gross domestic product, to promote capital expenditure by the State to make India a $5 trillion economy.
 Provision of total appropriation amounting to ` 3,14,024.84 crore which is 12% more than the , Previous year and total net expenditure of 2,81,553.62 crore ,Revenue surplus Rs 412.76 crore, Fiscal deficit estimated at 4.02% of Gross State Domestic Product  Estimated revenue receipts are 2,25,709.90 crore, which includes State’s own tax amount of Rs 86.499.98 crore, State’s share of central taxes 80,183.67 crore, non-tax revenue Rs 14,913.10 crore and grants-in-aid received from the Centre Rs 44,113.15 crore ,Estimated 11% increase in State own tax revenue in the year 2023-24 as compared to the revised Estimate of the year 2022-23 Estimated increase of 11% in revenue expenditure in the year 2023-24 as compared to the revised estimate of the year 2022-22 Estimated increase of 15% in capital expenditure in the year 2023-24 as compared to the revised estimate of the year 2022-23 Capital outlay in the year 2023-24 estimated at 4% of GSDP Revenue surplus in the year 2023-24 is 0.03% of the State’s gross domestic product Interest payment 10% of total revenue receipts in the year 2023-24.
