The weather again took an unprecedented turn and heavy rainfall with lightening and strong wind lashed the areas which was followed by hailstorm in some areas of the district. Due to this change in weather, the standing crop of wheat in the area was affected badly. In many places, crops have fallen flat and now the farmers are pessimistic over getting good prices for their produce as the grain has separated from the plant and fallen down before they could be harvested.
In village Bua, in almost cent percent area, wheat crop is grown. Last year farmers had received good price of wheat hence this year they had sown wheat in the entire field. The crop has ripen and farmers were preparing for the harvesting. Now, due to this change in weather the grain of wheat turned into black and farmers may not get good price. Some of the farmers who had grown wheat late in their field, this change in weather had affected them also as their wheat crop was in the flowering stage and due to strong wind the flowers have blown away and hence they would not get good produce.
Locals informed the district is receiving scanty or even heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstrom each day from the last one week. This has made difficult to harvest their crop as soil of the field is getting wet and their facing problem. Now they can harvest the crop only when the field gets dry. But till then the the grain will turn black. Local MLA Narayan Singh Patta visited hailstorm affected villages Koko, Gudli, Ghurwada and personally observed the damaged cause to standing crops due to rainfall and hails. He has written letter to state government demanding for providing financial aid to farmers as they are suffering huge losses due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm.
