Nagpur will be hosting Civil20 inception conference, one of the components of G-20, wherein discussion will centre on role of NGOs in steering the society towards achieving sustainable development goals. The conference will be inaugurated by Mata Amritanandamayi. She is C20 India Chair. The three-day event will be held in city from March 20, said Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vice-Chairman, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, and Patron, Civil20 Secretariat, while addressing mediapersons on Friday. About 14 working groups have been constituted under Civil20 to facilitate idea-sharing among the G-20 nations. Underlining its importance, Sahasrabuddhe said, one cannot underestimate the role of civil groups or NGOs as today, questions are also being raised about their functioning as they are mirroring the Government. So the meeting of Civil 20 is being held in city. The city boasts of a rich history of organisations working selflessly for several decades, which assumes significance. The working groups will hold meeting at various cities, including Surat, Bhopal, Pune, Coimbatore, Haridwar among other places to undertake discussion themes of education, health, technology, environment, arts and crafts, democracy, human rights and sustainable development. Besides Mata, spiritual guru Sri M is also attending the meet with Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi. Chairman of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabhodhini and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will also be present during inauguration on first day.
 
Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa, Shombi Sharp, United Nations Resident Co-ordinator in India, Ah Maftuchan, Indonesian C20 Sherpa, Alessandra Nilo from Brazil, Guillermina Alaniz from Argentina, Nivedita Bhinde, Vivekananda Kendra, Riccardo Moro from Italy, John Romano from USA. Civil20 is one among the 11 engagement groups of G20 and its objective is to present the perspective of civil society, NGOs and the development sector to the G20 Heads of States, said Sahasrabuddhe further. To a query, he said, one of the key elements is implementation of the churning from the discussion as same will be an important factor. About four sessions will be held and thereafter the delegates, about 50 of them would be from abroad, would tour Pench and also visit GoVigyan Anusandhan Kendra, Deolapar. In the run-up to C20 conference, the civil society groups and NGOs would hold discussion on various issues and prepare Nagpur Voice. The representatives would submit the same to Mata Amritanandamayi. Dr Jayant Kulkarni, Executive Director, Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, Dr Swadesh Singh, C20 Sous Sherpa and Secretariat In-charge, Ratnakar Patil, Pankaj Gautam and Shailesh Joglekar, Nagpur Local Organisation Committee, were also present during the media interaction. Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari took review of the official preparations for Civil20 meet in a meeting held at Divisional Commissionerate on Friday.
 
Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe was also present at the meeting. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B, District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, ZP CEO Saumya Sharma, Additional Collector Asha Pathan, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kulkarni, Chief Conservator and Project Director, Pench Tiger Project, Prabhunath Shukla, Maha Metro’s Executive Director Anil Kokate and other officials were present at the meeting. For the visiting dignitaries, a show of musical fountain at Futala Lake has been arranged on March 21. Thereafter, they will be treated to a lavish dinner at Telangkhedi garden where, on menu would be Varhadi cuisine. Also on March 22, a visit to SCZCC has been organised where the administration will showcase local culture through artists.
