Sports Reporter
ON THE occasion of ongoing International Women’s Week and the Women’s Day coming up on March 8, Nagpur Randonneurs (NR) conducted a ride of 51 kms on Sunday.
The appeal by NR received a huge response and a total of 127 riders registered for the event and 107 participated and finished the ride successfully. Fifty percent of the riders were ladies. The ride was flagged off at 6 am by Jyoti Patel and Kavita Mundale, ace riders of the city, from Freedom Park Zero Mile. The riders went up to Patansawangi toll plaza which was the U-turn point and came back to Zero Mile. The riders were provided with drinking water and snacks at the turning point. A cake cutting ceremony was organised at the end point. All the riders who finished the ride were presented with a certificate and a badge from NR. It was heartening to see so many riders turning up for the ride. Team NR is striving hard for popularising riding across all age groups in and around Nagpur. These types of rides prepare the rider for more stiffer challenges and motivates them to participate in longer versions such as Brevet.
The NR team comprising Ankita Pusadkar, Mangesh Pahade, Jitesh Thakkar, Sameer Lohi, Amol Ramteke, Ajay Kulkarni and Yogesh Dapurkar. Bhavana Chittawar and Alok Pusadkar conducted the event smoothly.
Team NR saluted the woman power by dedicating this ride to the immense contribution of all women in making this world a better place. Continuing with the momentum Team NR announced the next event — a 400 km BRM to be held on March 18. Further details can be had by contact 7756035130 or visiting the Aaudax India website.
