The 110th convocation of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will start on Thursday at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande hall at 2 pm. The function will be presided over by Governor Ramesh Bais, who is also the Chancellor of the Universities in Maharashtra. Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Dr T G Sitharam will be the chief guest. Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr Subhash Chaudhari will deliver the introductory speech.
Medals and prizes will be distributed to a total of 108 students. 1,01,722 degree aspirants and 330 students will be awarded degrees in this convocation ceremony. Faculty-wise number of eligible degree aspirants (degree certificate) in affiliated colleges include Faculty of Science and Technology - 32,709, Faculty of Commerce and Management - 27,925, Faculty of Humanities - 25,659, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies - 8077, Autonomous Colleges - 7351.
A total of 195 prizes including 157 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 29 cash prizes will be distributed. 280 researchers are being honored with the title of Acharya. The highest Acharya degrees will be awarded in Faculty of Humanities which is 113, followed by 97 in the Faculty of Science and Technology, 38 in the Faculty of Commerce and Management, 32 in the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies etc.
