The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recently completed a two-day inspection of Pt Sunderlal Sharma Open University and its all-regional centers, including the Durg Regional Centre, which handles study centers in three districts of Durg, Balod and Bemetara. The team was headed by Dr Hema Sunder Naidu from Devi Ahilya University, Indore and Dr Vijay Jaiswal from Choudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut.
During the inspection, the team reviewed the teaching, study materials and infrastructural facilities at the center and subsequently gave the NAAC grading of the university. The team visited all the departments, laboratories, conference halls, and research centers to inspect the facilities and research work going on in the department.
Dr D N Sharma, the Co-ordinator of the Regional Study Centre in Durg district, informed that the team also inspected study centers at Government VYT Postgraduate College Durg and Mansa College, Kohka Road, Kurud. He added that the students of the study center have excelled in different exams of the university in the past years and many of them have secured top positions.
The NAAC is a UGC-funded autonomous body that assesses and accredits higher education institutions, including degree colleges and universities in the country. Accreditation signifies that an educational institution has met certain standards of excellence across its operations, making it eligible for grants from the union government. Accreditation also has major benefits for students. All three centers presented their reports through a PowerPoint presentation.
