Fire broke out in a rice mill situated at Chandkhuri situated few kilometres away from Durg and emergency vehicles from both Fire Department as well as Bhilai Steel Plant were deployed. The fire was finally brought under the control after several hours and as per the concerned department, several bundles of gunny sacks, paddy husks etc were charred to ashes. However, no loss to life was reported as no one was present in the mill and its godown during the fire which broke out on Sunday night. District Commandant of Home Guard, Fire and Emergency Services, Nagendra Singh confirmed the fire mishap informing that the fire was brought under control after efforts and was completely extinguished till 6 am on Monday.

Reliable sources informed that the fire broke out in Rakesh Jindal Industry and its godown. After receiving information in this regard at 10:15 pm, fire fighting vehicles from Bhilai Steel Plant as well as the Fire Department rushed to the spot and the fire was extinguished till 6 am in the morning. Both foam and water were used to douse the fire. Several bundles of gunny sacks, paddy husk were charred to ashes while the machinery in the industry was also damaged in the fire. No loss to life has been reported and the loss caused to the property was yet to be calculated, informed sources.
