Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) should establish Students Facilitation Centre at all districts under its ambit, recommended the committee constituted by RTMNU Senate. Nagpur has the facilitation centre but the districts like Bhandara, Gondia, Wardha which are in RTMNU, don’t have such centre.
Senate Member Vishnu Changde had moved four proposals.
1. RTMNU has one main centre at Nagpur where students from other districts, taluka places can not come frequently. They can not participate in various activities conducted by the centre. If the sub-centres are established in districts, the respective sub-heads can organise cultural and other activities to make students take part in those. It will help students to develop their personalities.
2. There are 3 lakh students studying in more than 500 colleges. If the children have sports centre in their own places, then they can enhance their quality in respective games. These sports centre will facilitate players to develop himself or herself as a sportsperson.
3. Nagpur has huge library but students from remote areas do not have access. A state-of-the art library with 1,000 sitting capacity should be developed at every district. It will act as the sub-centre of the main library.
4. Setting up students development centre in each district.
Senate approved all these proposals and constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of Dr Dattatray Watmode, Dean of Humanities with Dr Mangesh Pathak, Director of Students Welfare; Dr Sharad Suryavanshi, Director, Sports and Physical Education Department, RTMNU as members. Dr Vijay Khandal, Director of Knowledge Resource Centre was its Member Secretary.
