Wife killed, ex-Vid Ranji captain injured in mishap

 

 

FORMER Vidarbha Ranji Trophy skipper Praveen Hinganikar and his wife Suvarna met with a grisly accident on Samruddhi Mahamarg near Mehkar, on Tuesday. Suvarna Hinganikar (53) was killed on the spot while Praveen Hinganikar (56) also sustained grievous injuries. The accident took place when the couple was returning to Nagpur from Pune on Tuesday afternoon in their Hyundai Creta car. It rammed into a stationary truck. As per details, the couple was on its way to Nagpur after visiting their son’s residence in Pune. At around 3 pm, their car (MH-31/FA 6622) hit a parked Eicher truck near Kalyana in Buldana’s Mehkar taluka as Praveen reportedly dozed off at the steering.

Suvarna was killed on the spot while the badly injured Praveen was rushed to a private hospital in Mehkar. He has reportedly suffered a fracture in the left hand. The dash was so severe that the car got crumpled like a piece of paper.

Police rushed to the spot on getting information and performed the panchnama. It may be mentioned here that former Vidarbha captain Praveen Hinganikar has served as Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) curator and is at present the chief curator of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He is responsible for construction, preparation and maintenance of pitches all over the neighbouring country.
