Man robbed of Rs 8.50 lakh at gun-point in Civil Lines

 

 

In a shocking incident, Yogesh Choudhary, a 47-year-old senior employee of Nair Sons, was robbed of Rs 8.50 lakh cash at gun-point, on Saturday evening, in the Ambazari Police Station area. The incident occurred near the Ladies Club Lawn when Choudhary was passing through the area in his car.

According to DCP Zone II Rahul Madne, Choudhary had collected the cash from Itwari and was on his way to the office in Ram Nagar to deposit it. As Choudhary passed by the Ladies Club Lawn in his car, two youths came from behind and blocked his car. They tried to smash the windshield of the car with a stone. As their attempt failed, they threatened Choudhary and his driver with a gun.

Immediately, the driver stopped the car and fled the scene. Choudhary, too, started to run away from the spot with the cash bag. However, the accused chased him and snatched the bag from Choudhary when he fell down while running. They quickly fled the scene on their two-wheeler, DCP Madne said. Choudhary, immediately, alerted the police.

A team from Ambazari Police Station and Crime Branch reached the spot and started investigation. Ambazari Police have registered a case under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code against the unidentified robbers. Sr Police Inspector Gajanan Kalyankar said that the entire incident has been recorded in the CCTV camera in the area. Based on the footage, the accused would be arrested soon, he added.
