Cheetah Pawan strayed out of Kuno National Park has been tranquillised for the second time to bring back in its periphery. The cheetah had crossed Madhav National Park, Shivpuri, and entered into residential villages. He also killed a calf and goat that made villagers literally scared. As cheetah was continuously moving towards residential area, experts decided to tranquillise him immediately. Rescue team reached to the spot and shoot tranquillising gun on Saturday evening. It took around half an hour to control the cheetah and then he was brought to Kuno Park on Saturday late night. Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Uttam Sharma and veterinary team were present on the spot.
Last week (April 15) Cheetah Pawan sneaked out of Kuno and reached Jaurai village near Barad area of Shivpuri. A day after he reached Madhav National Park and then entered to Mohamedpura village. He also killed a calf and goat in the village that made locals scared. The cat was continuously moving towards residential villages after that monitoring informed senior officials about him movement. Officials decided to tranquillise the cat and around 5 pm on Saturday, he was captured in Karera village.
Pawan was brought from Namibia in September 2022. On April 6, he was captured from Shivpuri jungle and for the second time he reached to the area. Forest officials also contacted the experts in Namibia to know the behaviour of cheetah. Experts in India said that cheetah was in capture for long time due to which he is enjoying his freedom and prefer to move around the open forest. Experts from Namibia said that cheetah was behaving same in Namibia as well. He always preferred to move around jungle without any hindrance.
Before translocating to Kuno Park, all the eight cheetahs were in quarantine for one and half months. Later, in Kuno National Park they were kept in enclosure for around two months. Wildlife experts said that when any animal get freedom from enclosure, he behaves the same. Such animal do not prefer to go around the area where he was captured. The animal prefer to form territory far away from the place where he was captured. Pawan is behaving the same. He is looking territory around Shivpuri jungle.
