The investigation in the Civil Lines robbery case has revealed that three persons were involved, and they used two motorcycles to commit the robbery. One of the two-wheelers was stolen from Imambada area in 2010, while a bogus number was used for the second two-wheeler. Yogesh Choudhary, a 47-year-old senior employee of Nair Sons, was robbed of Rs 8.5 lakh cash at gunpoint on Saturday evening in the Ambazari police station area. The incident occurred near the Ladies Club Lawn when Choudhary was passing by in his car.
A police official said that the accused are being traced on the basis of CCTV footage. Their pictures have been circulated among the police personnel and informers have also been activated, he said, adding that the accused had planned the robbery well in advance and were aware of Choudhary's movements. On Saturday, Choudhary had collected the cash from Itwari and was on his way to the office in Ram Nagar to deposit it.
As he passed by the Ladies Club Lawn in his car, two youths came behind him and blocked his car. They tried to smash the windshield of the car with a stone and also threatened Choudhary and his driver with a gun. The driver fled the scene, while Choudhary tried to flee with the cash bag. However, the accused chased him and picked the bag from Choudhary when he fell down while running. They fled on a two-wheeler.
