Sports fraternity of Jabalpur and Mahakaushal region will soon have a well managed multipurpose sports complex of international standards at Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla Stadium, Wright Town in next two months. The sports complex will fulfil long-awaited demand of synthetic athletic track and a dedicated football stadium while second phase of the project will provide 100 bedded dormitory and multilevel parking for 200 cars. Besides this, basketball court, badminton hall, squash court, billiards, gymnasium, locker room, VIP lounge, shower room and sitting arrangement for 800 spectators at 5-storeyed pavilion building.

Jabalpur Smart City Limited, Administrative Officer, Ravi Rao, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that the sports complex project is targeted to be completed by June 2023. Sports infrastructure is being developed on the basis of international standards and providing best sporting environment to the players for desired promotion of sports in Jabalpur and entire Mahakaushal region.

Availability of standard sports facilities will definitely nurture more players to raise the name of city and state in national and international competitions. Currently, grassing on football field and laying of synthetic track is being carried out. Football and athletics players in Jabalpur were deprived of a dedicated football ground and synthetic athletics track. Similarly, sports associations faced trouble in organising state and national competitions due to absence of sports hostel. New sports complex will fulfil requirements of players and sports associations to upgrade sports standard of Jabalpur.
