Member of a banned extremist outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HUT) was arrested by a team of NIA and ATS from Chhindwara on Tuesday. The accused was living in Co-operative Bank Colony. For the last 13 years, he was posted as Assistant Manager in Maintenance Branch in FDDI. After this action, there is a shock among the residents of the colony.
It must be mentioned here that ATS and NIA have arrested 10 members of this organisation from Bhopal, 5 members from Hyderabad and one member from Co-operative Bank Colony of Chhindwara. The accused were living as common men working as tailors, auto drivers, technicians while one of them was running a coaching centre.
A few residents of the Co-operative Bank Colony informed that some time ago, they had protested against objectionable activities in the colony. According to the information, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, a supporter of Khalifa’s rule and implementation of Sharia law, is banned in the country. It works to spread the ideology of Khilafat among the youth.
The said accused from Chhindwara, identified as Abdul Karim, has been arrested by the team of NIA and ATS from his home Co-operative Bank Colony in the early hours of Tuesday. Till afternoon - when Karim did not return home, his parents took his wife with them. It is said that digital documents including technical equipment, objectionable literature have been recovered from the house of the accused. The accused Abdul Karim Ahmed(45) was originally a resident of Damua area. He had been living in the city ever since he joined FDDI about 13 years ago. It is said that he lived on rent in Sajid Ahmed's house.
