‘Space on Wheels’ will bring awareness about space technology, ISRO: Chouhan

‘Space on Wheels’ was launched on Thursday to acquaint students of different districts of the State with innovations happening in the field of science and achievements related to science of India. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan flagged off this special mobile van prepared by compiling important information related to science. On the occasion of National Technology Day, this program took place at Smart City Park. In this program organized by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology(MPCST), the Chief Minister first planted saplings with the scientists present and then flagged off the Space on Wheels. On the occasion, Science and Technology Minister Om Prakash Sakhalecha, Director General of Council of Science and Technology Dr. Anil Kothari, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal, Center for Advanced Technology Indore, IIT Indore, CSIR Bhopal, AIIMS Bhopal, MANIT Bhopal, BHEL Bhopal, Indian Council of Agricultural Research Bhopal, Vice Chancellor, scientists and officials of Rajiv Gandhi Technological University Bhopal participated. While congratulating all the scientists, engineers, technicians and students of these streams on National Technology Day, Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is a day of pride for all Indians.
On this day in the year 1998, former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee increased India’s prestige in the world by conducting nuclear tests in Pokhran. The achievements of science will reach the masses: During the programme, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inspected the mobile van and expressed happiness on seeing the achievements related to science. The Chief Minister said that this mobile van will inform the state and the general public about the technology and achievements of ISRO since independence. The bus will visit schools across the state to raise awareness about space technology and ISRO.
That’s why Space on Wheels is going: ‘Space on Wheels’ buses are being run by ISRO across the country to mark the birth centenary of scientist Vikram Sarabhai and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ISRO. This Space on Wheels bus, which left for remote areas of every district of the state, displays India’s space journey. Inside the bus are scale models of ISRO launch vehicles, satellites, space applications and launchpads at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
Awareness of science is necessary: On this occasion, Science and Technology Minister Om Prakash Sakhalecha said that Madhya Pradesh is doing excellent work in the field of science and innovations under the leadership of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Recently, a new science policy has been implemented in the state. This mobile van will act as an inspiration to the youth living in rural areas to move forward in the field of science.
