Police raid red lightarea, detains 30 CSWs

 

 

 

IN A joint operation, the Social Security Branch (SSB) and Lakadganj Police conducted surprise searches at the red light area -- Ganga Jamuna -- on Tuesday, and detained over 30 commercial sex workers (CSWs) for soliciting customers.

 

Two-three minor girls dragged into the flesh trade by pimps were also rescued during the operation. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar had prohibited prostitution in Ganga Jamuna and sealed several brothels in 2021. However, some CSWs continued the flesh trade in the area. A police officer said that the joint raids continued till Tuesday late evening. Action would be initiated against the CSWs under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act against them, he added
