A devastating fire that broke out in a restaurant located near Deendayal Chowk, caused panic in entire area, on Thursday morning. Nearby residents and traders were relieved only when fire fighters brought the fire under control after much effort. The estimated loss to property is around Rs 20 lakh.

It may be noted that at around 8 am, people saw thick black smoke billowing from Badkul Restaurant located in Deendayal Chowk, Vijay Nagar, which shocked people. They immediately informed the fire department of Municipal Corporation about the incident. Getting the information fire department rushed as many as four tenders to the site to combat fire. After reaching the spot, fire fighters saw smoke emanating from the Badkul restaurant's windows. They broke the shutter lock and entered inside to control the fire. However, the fire had caused significant damage to the furniture and other items inside the restaurant. Unfortunately, costly things like furniture, deep freezers and other goods worth nearly Rs 20 lakh charred completely in the fire.

The fire incident panicked the area residents. They recalled last year's horrific fire incident in a private hospital and how it still instills fear in their minds. The residents were concerned since the restaurant is located adjacent to residential and commercial buildings. The Fire fighters, senior officials of JMC and Police departments quickly reached the spot and lessen the fear of people. Spokesman of fire department said the fire may have started due to a short circuit, but it is not yet clear. Investigation is on to know the exact reason of the incident.
