One charred to death, 3 injured as truck’s diesel tank explodes

ONE person was charred to death and three others injured, two of them seriously, when the diesel tank of a truck exploded during welding inside a garage -- S S Body Works & Fabrication -- at Automotive Square on Kamptee Road, near Mankapur turning Friday afternoon. Soon after the explosion, panic gripped the people in the area. After it was confirmed that the diesel tank of a truck exploded, hundreds of people gathered at the spot. A team of fire fighters from Fire & Emergency Services Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and staff from Kapil Nagar Police Station arrived at the spot and rushed all the four injured persons to Hope Hospital. After some time, one of them succumbed to his injuries. His body was sent to Mayo Hospital for autopsy.
Identified as Takdeerraj Sukhdeo Kamble (35), the deceased was a resident of Masala Toli, near Durga Mandir.
Sukhchain Singh Balwinder Singh Gulhar (47), a resident of Deepak Nagar, garage owner Sukhbaj Singh Hardayal Singh Chahal (49), a resident of Bababudhaji Nagar and Yogesh Ganesh Nakke (34), a resident of Sahayog Nagar, received serious burn injuries. Condition of two of them was critical. Preliminary investigations revealed that an empty diesel tank was brought to the garage for welding. The welder was unaware that the tank still had little fuel in it. He did not correctly purge or ventilate the fuel tank. When he started welding, the tank exploded injuring him, the garage owner and two others seriously. Kapil Nagar Police registered an accidental death case and started further investigations.
