Minister Bhargava reviews progress of ongoing devpt projects in district

State Public Works, Cottage and Rural Industries Minister, Gopal Bhargava presided over the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting held in the conference hall at Collectorate on Monday. He reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects in the district and gave necessary directions to concerned senior officials. At the outset, Minister Bhargava held discussions on action taken report of decisions made in the previous meeting. Addressing the issue of Gaushalas (cow shelters), he emphasised the need to complete all unfinished Gaushalas without any restrictions. The Minister In-charge of the District directed the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) to safeguard cows and ensure that the city remains clean and beautiful. He directed to relocate stray pigs and monkeys within the city limits to more suitable areas. To achieve this, he asked to launch a campaign and forming a special team. The relocation process should be carried out thoughtfully, ensuring that the problems of one location do not transfer to another.
Regarding electricity bills, Minister Bhargava stressed the rectification of erroneous bills through organising camps. He directed officers to handle the matter sensitively. Additionally, he called for prompt action by the relevant authorities in cases of power failures. He directed to pay special attention to repairing dangling wires, bent poles and relocating power poles situated in the middle of roads or nearby. During discussions on development projects, the public representatives earnestly addressed various issues affecting the district and presented an action plan to resolve them. The topics related to rural development, JMC, Smart City initiatives, Forest Department, Women and Child Development, Electricity, Public Health Engineering (PHE), Food and Civil Supplies, and road construction, among others.
During the meeting MLA Vinay Saxena highlighted the issue of road parking, which leads to a state of confusion in the city. He also raised concerns about contaminated potable water due to pipelines running alongside or through drains. Similarly, MLA Ashok Rohani discussed the need to address water pollution caused by cow dung around the Gaur river. He also requested immediate action to eliminate waterlogging in the city and improve the roads dug up for laying sewer lines. MLA Tarun Bhanot drew attention to the development works on the Madan Mahal hill and the deepening of Thakur Tal. He emphasised the importance of involving public representatives in these projects. Moreover, he suggested converting temporary electricity connections into permanent ones and granting poor individuals some leeway in settling their electricity bills before disconnecting their connections. During the meeting, Collector Saurabh Kumar Suman provided detailed information about the district’s development projects and vowed to uphold the decisions made by the District Planning Committee.
