SIX vehicles, including two cars, were gutted in fire at the parking lot of a residential building in Trimurti Nagar in the wee hours of Tuesday. The loss due to fire was estimated at Rs five lakh. Around 3 pm, a Swift D’Zire car (MH-31/EU7233) belonging to SudhirKrishnarao Vase caught firedue to a short circuit in thewiring at the parking lot of Suyog NIT Society around 3 am. Within minutes, it engulfed other vehicles parked adjacent to the car. A Honda Activa (MH-31/BS-4835), a TVS Antok scooter (MH-31/FR-2413), Bajaj Kawasaki (MH-40//V-8608) and a Splendor motorcycle (MH-31/BM-1965) were completely gutted. Another car (MH-31/BM-4525) owned by Manoj Dhote was also damaged.

Soon after receiving information about the incident from one of the residents around 3.26 am, a team of firefighters rushed to the spot. Two fire tenders were pressed into service. Staff from Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station arrived at the spot. Firefighters completely doused the flames within half an hour. No casualties were reported in the fire.
