INTERNATIONAL Arbiter (IA) Anurag Singh secured the esteemed FIDE School Instructor title, becoming first individual from Nagpur to achieve this honour. The title certifies Anurag as an official coach and curriculum designer for chess programmes in schools worldwide, showcasing his expertise in the game and his ability to educate and train young chess enthusiasts. Anurag’s dedication and proficiency in chess have been evident throughout his career. In the previous year, he was appointed as the Team Coach and Team Selector for the Indian University Team in the Asian University Chess Championship.

Under his guidance, the team achieved remarkable success, winning all four gold medals and setting a new record for the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Continuing the winning streak, the team secured the bronze medal this year. The FIDE School Instructor title is a prestigious recognition bestowed by the World Chess Federation (FIDE), promoting chess education and development globally. Anurag’s achievement not only showcases his personal excellence but also highlights the growing interest in chess in Nagpur.

His commitment to the game and his efforts in nurturing young talents have played a significant role in advancing chess as both a sport and an intellectual pursuit in the region. Anurag gave the credit of his success to his family, Nagpur District Chess Association, Maharashtra Chess Association, and All India Chess Federation.
