Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that man cannot move forward without scientific thinking in the society.

Addressing the inaugural session of 18th Chhattisgarh Young Scientist Congress 2023 at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium Raipur on Wednesday, Chief Minister Baghel said that new innovations from time to time have brought changes in the present situation of the society.

“In today’s era, it is very important for every person to have a scientific outlook. India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji had first thought about scientific thinking. After independence, Nehru Ji had started a campaign to equip India with a scientific approach. Pandit Nehru had thought that if public representatives and scientists work in coordination, then every problem of the country can be solved easily,” observed Baghel.

The Chief Minister said that the Congress government in Chhattisgarh have carried out the development works with the scientific thinking of Nehru Ji. The Congress government has taken steps to inculcate scientific temper among the citizens, as well as has incorporated scientific innovations in our plans and programmes in every field, he added. Addressing the young scientists, the Chief Minister said, “Many of youths come from rural backgrounds. You understand the problems and needs of the village very well. A new era can start in the country with the combination of your talent and the traditional experiences of the villagers. We can enter the era that Mahatma Gandhi used to dream of. We can make the dream of rural India and Gram Swaraj come true,” Baghel said. The Chief Minister called upon the young to speed up research to control climate change or find alternatives to adapt to this change. “If we do not use the resources properly, then it also gets misused, from which we have to stay safe. Finding current problems on the basis of old research will not bring new research to the society, so young scientists should think of new ways of research,” he added. “The person, who does not ask questions and does not seek solutions, remains behind in the society. If Nehru Ji had not built infrastructure, we would have been as backward as our neighboring countries, but today we are able to talk to the world face to face,” he said.

People used to laugh when it came to TV in the country, then it was the same about mobiles. But today, due to scientific thinking, people are watching TV in mobile only. Earlier information had to be taken from meteorologists and now everything is in mobile, he added. “Chhattisgarh government is the first government in the world which is buying cow dung. Now vermin-compost is being made from cow dung. We are not burning the stubble and taking it to Gothans and we are also trying to give back to the earth as much as we are taking from the earth. Nature has given us a lot in Chhattisgarh. We are also generating employment,” he added. Advisor to Chief Minister Pradeep Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University Professor Sachchinand Shukla, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Young Scientist Congress-2023 Professor Kallol Ghosh, Professor Shams Parvez, Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CCOST) Director General Dr S Karmakar, scientists of the CCOST Dr Amit Dubey, Dr Akhilesh Tripathi and young scientists in large number attended the programme. At least 19 technical sessions were held on the first day of the 18th Chhattisgarh Young Scientist Congress. The event is being organised by CCOST and Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University Raipur. The two-day 18th Chhattisgarh Young Scientist Congress 2023 will conclude on Thursday. Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan will be the Chief guest at the valedictory function.
