To vent ire against vandalism done by Bajrang Dal activists at Congress party office, Congress leaders and workers staged massive protest in 13 mandals of the city, on Friday. Senior party leaders, office bearers of all wings and blocks of the party burnt effigy of BJP at important places in the city. During the protest, Congress leaders criticised the BJP and its allied organisations for violating the law and hampering peace in the country, including Madhya Pradesh.

They said seeing their possible defeat in ensuing elections in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, the BJP and its wings have started doing such cheap activities. They said people of the country, including Madhya Pradesh, are watching miscreant nature of organisations like Bajrang Dal.

Congress leaders also denounced harshly the local administration for allegedly not taking concrete steps to prevent the incident despite being aware of intentions of Bajrang Dal activists. Congressmen stated that their protest will continue until all those involved in the procession of Bajrang Dal are arrested. IThe incident occurred on Thursday when Bajrang Dal activists vandalised Congress Party office at Baldevbagh.

They were protesting against Congress’ manifesto promises of banning Bajrang Dal in Karnataka. The activists caused significant damage by tearing down banners, posters and breaking window panels, plastic sheets and other materials kept outside the office. However, the Bajrang Dal spokesperson denied involvement of any of their workers and alleged that Congress party workers caused destruction while wearing saffron clothes. After the incident, the Congress leaders filed an FIR at Kotwali Police Station and requested stern action against the guilty people. Police took swift action and arrested several Bajrang Dal activists while conducting an intense search to nab all those involved.

Senior party leaders, including MLA Tarun Bhanot, Lakhan Ghanghoria, Vinay Saxena, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, Manoj Seth, State executive members, Congress coordination committee members, members of Youth Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI, Mahila Congress participated in the protest.
