SAKKARDARA Police, on Friday, arrested a middle-aged man and booked two of his accomplices for allegedly duping a senior citizen of Rs 1.52 crore on the pretext of allotting a plot of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) by preparing fake documents. The accused have been identified as Anil Ajabrao Thakre (55), a resident of Plot No 114, Old Subhedar Layout, Mukhtar Alam Mohammad Ali, a resident of Om Sainath Nagar, and Nazim Ali Sayyed Ali, a resident of 431, Ashirvad Nagar. Cops took Thakre into custody.
A resident of Sneha Nagar, Sewagram, district Wardha, Gajanan Anandrao Deolikar (70) in his complaint alleged that Thakre, Mukhtar Alam, and Nazim Ali prepared bogus documents of a plot adjacent to Jafari Hospital on Umrer Road. Masquerading as an employee of NIT, Thakre told him that the plot was being sold for Rs 1.52 crore by the authorities.
Presuming that the NIT was selling the plot, he showed interest in buying the property and gave the entire amount to the accused trio between December 12, 2018 and April 3, 2023. Later, he came to know that they defrauded him on the basis of forged documents.
Following Deolikar’s complaint, police registered a case under Sections 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 406 (Criminal breach of trust), 465 (Forgery), 467(Forgery of valuable security), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code against Thakre, Mukhtar Alam and Nazim Ali.
Further investigations are underway.
