Congress party is gearing up for upcoming Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, with more serious approach this time. General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be visiting the city to start party’s election campaign on June 12.
Mayor and President, City Congress Committee, Jagat Bahadur Singh, on Friday informed that Priyanka Gandhi will participate in a number of programmes to be organised in the city.
He said she will lead a 2-km-long roadshow to be taken out from important throughfares of the city. Likewise, she will also address a public meeting. Mayor Singh said party leaders have been making arrangements to ensure a gathering of over one lakh people in the public meeting. The Mayor said till the day, venue for the programme has not been finalized. Soon the party will declare detailed programme of Gandhi’s visit to city. He said the party has been focusing on the Mahakoshal area, which has been marginalized by the Bharatiya Janata Party over the last five years.
The City President of Congress Committee further said the Congress hopes to maintain its lead from the last assembly elections in Jabalpur and possibly increase the number of seats here. He said Priyanka Gandhi’s visit is to kick start preparations and Congress’ campaign for the Assembly elections 2023 in Madhya Pradesh.
