Secretary Steel IAS Sinha visits BSP, witnesses steel making modex units

Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, Nagendra Nath Sinha (IAS) arrived on his maiden visit to SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant on Friday. He was welcomed at Raipur Airport by Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c BSP. Soon after his arrival at Bhilai Niwas, Sinha was accorded Guard of Honour by the Jawans of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The Secretary also planted a sapling before leaving for his visit to the Plant.
During his visit to the Plant, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Nagendra Nath Sinha took keen interest in operations at Modex units, Coke Oven Battery 11, Blast Furnace 8, Steel Melting Shop 3 and Universal Rail Mill. At the beginning of his Plant visit, Sinha was briefed about safety at Safety Excellence Centre inside the Plant.
Accompanied by Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c, Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) and other senior officers of the Plant, Secretary, Steel witnessed coke making operations at COB 11, production of hot metal at Blast Furnace 8, production of crude steel at SMS 3 and production of world’s longest 130 metre rail and loading of 260 metre welded rail panels at Universal Rail Mill. Following his Plant visit, Secretary, Steel, Sinha arrived at Ispat Bhavan where he was welcomed by S Mukhopadhyay, ED (Projects & P&A), Dr A K Panda, ED (F & A), A K Chakraborty, ED (Materials Management), Samir Swarup, CGM I/c Mines & Rowghat, and Dr Binayke, CMO (M & HS). Secretary, Steel, Sinha reviewed the performance of Plant during a presentation on highlights of performance at Director I/c Conference Hall. Following the presentation, Secretary, Steel interacted at length with senior officers on different aspects of Plant’s performance. Secretary, Steel, Sinha later interacted with a crosssection of young officers of Bhilai Steel Plant at Ispat Bhawan.
