Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang and MP Pragya Thakur inaugurated newly constructed building at platform no one of Bhopal Railway Station on Sunday. The building has been constructed by railways with a cost of Rs 17 crore. West Central Railway General Manager Sudhir Kumar Gupta was also present during the programme.

All commercial activities will be shifted to the new building. New ticket counter started was shifted to the new building on May 6 while announcement system has been already begun.

A unique kid zone has been introduced in the building where children can enjoy and have fun. It would cost Rs 80 for entertainment in kid zone for 20 minutes. Railways has also shifted four parking slots in between new building and GPO. Now passengers are allowed to park their vehicle after entering from gate no one. The multi-storey building is equipped with several facilities for passengers including baby feeding room, open air multi-cuisine restaurant, pod hotel, food plaza, kid zone and commercial space. Officials said that they had targeted to complete construction of building by April 20 and they did it. There are various art piece on wall of new building where one can see summary of Madhya Pradesh at a glance. Apart from tigers, paintings of Sanchi Stupa, Birla Temple, Khajuraho, etc is also included. The art piece is displayed at ground floor of the building. There is also a corridor room for passengers.

Several facilities have been provided in the building.

On the ground floor, there is baby feeding room. Railways has also proposed for pod hotel (small air conditioner rooms which is completely budget friendly). Separate washroom for physically challenged is available at the station. The building is connected to platform 6 as well. Foot Over Bridge constructed at Itarsi end is added with the building. The FoB was working partially for past four years. Passengers from platform 6, 2, 3, 4, 5 were easily travelling on this FoB. Now the FoB is directly connected to platform 1 as well. Entry of passengers is allowed from platform 1. There are two entry gates at platform no 1 including one for VIP and one for general.
