Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accuses the State Government of in corruption. The BJP government has only provided 21 Government jobs in the name of employment during its long tenure, she claimed. Priyanka Gandhi targeted the BJP government by saying that the list of scams in Madhya Pradesh is even longer than the list of abuses Prime Minister Modi had received. There are many scams like Mahakal scam, Vyapam scam, ration scam, e-tender scam and many more, the list of which is so long that it will never end. Earlier, Priyanka kick-started the Congress party’s campaign for the ensuing Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh from Jabalpur on Monday by taking part in Narmada puja and aarti. She then paid tributes to the statue of Veerangana Rani Durgavati and addressed the public meeting.

People of Sanskardhani were enthusiastic to see and listen to Priyanka. After landing at the helipad made at the Ayurvedic College ground, she directly reached the banks of river Narmada at Gwarighat, where amidst the chants of hymns and Vedic mantras, she performed the Dugdhabhishekh (milk ablution) and offered prayers to Goddess Narmada. Later, addressing a huge gathering at Shaheed Smarak, she issued a guarantee letter from the Congress, promising to provide domestic gas cylinders for Rs 500, implement the old pension scheme, waive farmers’ loans and provide a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to women under the Nari Samman Yojana along with free 100 units of electricity and other major announcements. She accused the Government of exploiting people of the State and manipulating their votes with money power. Priyanka Gandhi said that during the tenure of this Government, which has been ruling the State for 220 months, 225 scams have taken place. The AICC General Secretary said that people of Madhya Pradesh have been deceived for the past 18 years. They are being used. Referring to the broken statues in the Mahakal Temple, she stated that these people have not even spared God. Priyanka reminded the people that Congress had previously formed a government with their support, but through manipulation, betrayal and money, the people from BJP brought down their government and formed their own.

Taking a dig at the Modi government, Priyanka Gandhi said that only deception is being played with the public. People have started to realise it now. Just like in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, where the public has ousted the BJP from power, the same will happen in Madhya Pradesh as well. She also said that the people of the country have understood that whether it is a double engine or a triple engine government, it is of no use. Without taking Jyotiraditya Scindia’s name, Priyanka said that recently, some leaders who were with our party changed their ideology for power and joined the BJP. She also claimed that hatred is being spread instead of brotherhood in the country. Therefore, everyone needs to stay alert. On the occasion, she also signed the guarantee of the gifts that would be given to the public if the Congress comes to power. She referred to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as ‘Ghoshanaveer’. While mentioning the recently launched Ladli Bahna Yojana, she said that the State Government initiated it just for the sake of the elections. If they were honest, then they would have implemented it a year ago. She assured the people that if the Congress comes to power, all the promises made to them will be fulfilled, just like the Congress is fulfilling its promises elsewhere. Earlier, MPCC chief and former Chief Minister, Kamal Nath also addressed the public meeting.

He said that visiting Jabalpur reminds him of his youthful days. He said that one should not think that he has become old. Regarding his connection with Jabalpur and the State, he emphasised the significance of nurturing values and relationships. He stated, “I am a proud Hindu, but I am not foolish. In December 2018, you (people) elected a Congress government. When the Government was overthrown, I was the Chief Minister and I could have made deals, but I did not want to define the identity of Madhya Pradesh through deals. I said that I do not want a throne, I did not make any deals,” added Kamal Nath. Member of Parliament Vivek Tankha stated that the neglect of Mahakoshal region has taken place, but it will not happen when the Congress government comes and excellent works will be done in the fields of education and health. On the occasion, MLA Tarun Bhanot, Lakhan Ghanghoria, Vinay Saxena and Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh also expressed their views in the rally.
