Reiterating the demand to change the name of well known places and institutions in the State capital, Bhopal Municipal Corporation Speaker Kishan Suryawanshi has written a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in this regard. He urged the CM to rename Hamidia Hospital, Hamidia School, Hamidia College, and Hamidia Road after some patriots of the country.

Throwing light on chronology in support of his demand, Suryawanshi stated that the person who was not willing to be a part of India during the independence, does not deserve to be remembered by our citizens. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, he said that it is evident in various literature and reports that Nawab Hamidulla Khan was against including Bhopal as a part of India. That is why our country got freedom on August 15, 1947, but it took almost two years for Bhopal to be a part of India. All this is because of Nawab’s ill intentions.

Reason behind BMC Speaker’s demand to rename Replying to the query about communalism concept behind name change demand, he said that “It is not a matter of religion but a matter of patriotism. There are many incidents when our heroes who fought for inclusion of Bhopal to our great nation, had to face the rage of Nawab. Notably, Suryawanshi is the first in the city who has raised the matter on June 1 before official celebration of Bhopal Diwas at grand level. He demanded to rename Hamidia Road, Hamidia Hospital and Hamidia School and College after our freedom fighters.
