SHAUNAK Badole won the Nagpur District Under-11 open title and 8-year-old Swara Gandhi won Nagpur District Under-11 girls title of Nagpur District Under-11 Open and Girls Chess Championship organised by Chess Association Nagpur in association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park.
Shaunak scored 7.5 points out of 8 to annex the title. Sahajveer Singh Maras scored 6.5 points to finish second. In the girls group, Swara scored 6 points from six rounds. Yashika Musale scored 5 points to finish second. Shaunak and Sahajveeer in open group while Swara and Yashika in girls group shall represent Nagpur district in the upcoming Maharashtra State Under-11 Chess Championship to be held at Pune from July 28-30. Shekhar Suryawanshi, Superintendent, CGST was chief guest of prize distribution function. Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, Chess Association Nagpur; SS Soman, MCA Observer Committee Member and Chief Arbiter IA Deepak Chavan were present on the occasion.
