A wave of grief and anguish has swept the residents of Faruque Nagar following the tragic death of three children in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) parked near their house on Sunday. The bodies of the innocent children were discovered inside the SUV, raising questions about the faulty door that sealed their tragic fate. The attention of the investigators has now turned to the SUV’s malfunctioning door lock system, which played a role in the devastating deaths. The car, owned by Ghulam Ashraf Sheikh from Ansar Nagar, Mominpura, was undergoing repairs at the garage of Sohail Ansari in Faruque Nagar.

Due to a damaged door lock system, the SUV was parked in front of Khalil & Sons factory. Corroborating the sequence of the tragic incident, a police official said that Taufique Firoz Khan (4), Alia Firoze Khan (6) and Afrin Irshad Khan (6), all residents of Faruque Nagar, had got easy access into the SUV. However, they got trapped in the SUV due to faulty door lock system. Due to the intense heat of summer, they might have felt uneasy in the vehicle and attempted to rescue themselves. The children were unable to free themselves from the vehicle. Tragically, the scorching heat prevailing at the time further exacerbated the situation, resulting in a decreasing oxygen level within the car, leading to suffocation. The children were found on each other. Taufique was found above the two girls which established a theory that four-year-old Taufique fell unconscious after the girls, the official said.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar said that the children got trapped inside the car and their attempts to rescue themselves had not come to anyone’s notice due to the loud noise of a nearby spinning factory. “We have conducted the post-mortem after requesting the Dean of Mayo Hospital and also expedited Forensic Examination. So far, we haven't found any foul play in the case,” he said. Last rites were performed on Monday at 10 am, he informed. The Pachpaoli police led by Police Inspector Vaibhav Jadhav is conducting further investigation.
