Former Captain of the Indian cricket team and Padma Bhushan Kapil Dev visited Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Nava Raipur in Atal Nagar on Tuesday. On arrival, he was greeted by the senior doctors and staff members followed by a warm traditional welcome by the students of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani College of Nursing & Allied Health Care Sciences. Speaking on the occasion, Kapil Dev applauded the services of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital. He said, “Sunil Gavaskar shared with me that he is doing social service. But today, I observed it here. I am speechless to see the unbelievable service being rendered in this hospital and that too for last 10 years. I congratulate the doctors, medical staff and the subordinate staff for their exemplary work.”

 

Kapil Dev opined that the doctors should never be disheartened by failures, but march ahead without any compromise in efforts. He particularly advised all the mothers to take care of their children so that they carry forward the legacy of Sathya Sai Sanjeevani. He was hopeful that Chhattisgarh, being blessed with Sathya Sai Sanjeevani, would become a role model not only for India but for the World in future also. He suggested that the people should work with a smile. “A batsman does not always score 100 runs in a cricket match, but sometimes, the batsman also scores zero run in a match. But the batsman shold never be disappointed. Catch is dropped in a cricket match that is not a matter of disappointment. But efforts must be made to catch the ball during a match so that players could make a brilliant catch,” the former Indian cricketer said. Kapil Dev presented gift of life certificate to eleven children in the programme. The patients were from Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. A father from Uttar Pradesh, who told that they were treated like a family in the Hospital without any discrimination. Dr Nikhil Shukla introduced Kapil Dev to the audience.

 

He narrated the milestones of his illustrious career including the evergreen 1983 World Cup Victory at Lords.He informed that Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Nava Raipur Centre has completed 10 glorious years of its service to mankind. Dr Ragini Pandey showed stills of 1983 World Cup Era with the famous quote ‘Fortune favours the Brave’. She said that Kapil Dev’s qualities of a good Captain hold good for Sathya Sai Sanjeevani also. She further remarked that World Cup win for Sanjeevani is when the children go back happily after braving all odds. She concluded her speech by saying that Sanjeevani Model is a Model of Winners. The programme ended with national anthem.
