To prevent anti-social activities, joint teams of the police, district administration and the Excise Department raided several hookah bars in the city on Thursday. Samples of tobacco and other ingredients used in hookahs were taken and sent to laboratory for examination. Teams led by Bhopal Collector Asheesh Singh, Bairagarh SDM, conducted raids at several Hookah bars across the city and lodged FIR against the operators. Locations that were raided include Seven Oak Restaurant in Bairagarh, Hideout in Gandhi Nagar and Latitude in MP Nagar. A joint team of SDM Bairagarh, Excise Office, Station House Office, Food and Drug Officer did intensive checking at hookah bars and registered cases under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Notably, the sale and consumption of e-hookah, nicotine hookah is banned in the district under Section 144 by the District Magistrate. Under the de-addiction campaign, continuous action has been taken against hookah bar operators by the Excise staff in the past few days.
