Nagpur region, that witnessed above normal pre-monsoon rains in April and May, has 37.21 per cent water stock in its reservoirs, which is highest in Maharashtra. Nagpur region, which has 5,578.62 Mcum designed storage in all dams, has 1,714.23 Mcum live water storage which is highest in the state. Similarly, Amravati region which also witnessed good pre-monsoon rains in April, has the second highest water storage with 35.94 per cent in its dams till date.

 

Konkan region is third in the list with 30.54 per cent water stock in dams. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) (25.89%), Nashik (23.53%) and Pune (11.49%) have below 30 per cent water stock on this date. Whereas, all dams in the state, have 22.75 per cent water stock on this date which was 26.80 per cent on last year.

Month of June, which usually witnesses pre-monsoon activities before the onset of Southwest Monsoon, was completely dry in Vidarbha this year. Due to dry weather in June, evaporation also took place that caused loss of water in dams. Even after this factor, the high water storage in dams is a good sign. The dams in Nagpur district also have good water storage till date. Totladoh dam which is the major  water source for Nagpur city, has 56.67 per cent water storage till date.
