The most-awaited South-West Monsoon has arrived in Nagpur district after a delay of nine days, on Saturday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared arrival of monsoon in East Vidarbha. According to IMD, “The South-West monsoon 2023 has advanced in to some more parts of Vidarbha, on Saturday. The northern limit of monsoon (NLM) now passes through Nagpur, Alibag, Solapur, Udgir, Mandla, Sonbhadra, Buxar, Siddharthnagar and Pantnagar.” As per the Weather Department, “The cyclonic circulation over North-West Bay of Bengal adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coasts extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting towards South-West with height persists. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during next 24 hours.” The Weather Department has predicted, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia and nearby areas will witness good monsoon rains from June 25 to 28. Whereas, the onset of monsoon in remaining parts of Vidarbha including Buldana, Akola, and Amravati will take place in next 24 hours. After June 28, the monsoon in Nagpur city will take a break for a week and again appear on July 5, claimed a meteorologist.

The monsoon rains will be scattered in the first half of July but after July 15 it will turn into widespread rains. Despite good rains on Friday in all over Vidarbha, the weather was dry on Saturday in all places of Vidarbha. However, strong thunderstorms lashed parts of Gadchiroli and Chandrapur districts on Saturday. Due to cloudy weather and rains on Friday the maximum temperature dipped drastically on Saturday all over Vidarbha. A couple of days ago, the maximum temperature was between 40 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius all over Vidarbha but with onset of monsoon the maximum temperature dipped by almost 10 degrees Celsius.

Akola recorded maximum temperature at 38 degrees Celsius. The city was hottest in Vidarbha on Saturday. However, other places like Amravati (32.6 degrees Celsius), Buldana (34.6 degrees Celsius), Brahmapuri (32.4 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (33.6 degrees Celsius), Gadchiroli (30.2 degrees Celsius), Gondia (32.9 degrees Celsius), Nagpur (32.7 degrees Celsius), Wardha (34.4 degrees Celsius), Washim (35.6 degrees Celsius), and Yavatmal (34.5 degrees Celsius) recorded maximum temperature below 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
