Operation of trains between Jabalpur-Itarsi hit

 

 

Alert working of rail trackmen helped railway administration avert any untoward incident due to partially damaged sand mounted bridge between Kareli-Narsinghpur stations following heavy rains, on Wednesday. Taking prompt action on the information, rail administration restrained operation of trains between Jabalpur-Itarsi rail block following damage of sand mounted rail bridge between Kareli-Narsinghpur stations in Jabalpur Division under West Central Railway. Restoration work of sand mounted bridge was completed till late night but rail authority restricted the operation of trains as safety measure.

 

On the other hand, following progress of restoration work, down track trains from Itarsi towards Jabalpur passed through the track with dead-slow speed while two trains numbered 11274 from Prayagraj Chhivki-Itarsi Express and train number 11271 Itarsi-Bhopal Vindhyachal Express were short terminated at Madan Mahal Railway Station.

Besides this, routes of five trains were diverted through Bhopal via Bina, Katni and Murwara include train number 12322 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Howrah Express, 12149 Pune Danapur Express, 12167 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Banaras Express, 20903 Ekta Nagar Varanasi Express and train number 11061 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Jaynagar Express.

Alert trackmen first to spot the damage

damage of bridge was first spotted by trackmen on Wednesday morning and immediately informed their concerned officers. Acting promptly on the information, officers came in action while senior officers of Engineering, Signal and Telecommunication and Electrical Departments reached the spot to take stock the situation. It was found that due to torrential rains, sand was washed-off near siding of the down track which leads to leaning of overhead electricity line’s pole which was vulnerable for any incident. Soon after, the restoration work was started on war footings with the deployment of around 200 labourers.
