Smuggling of illegal liquor is on the rise in the State capital on Sunday. On the other hand, these liquor smugglers are being arrested and exposed time-to-time by staff of Excise Department. On Saturday also, the staff arrested an accused who was smuggling liquor from auto-rickshaw. The Excise Department team has recovered goods worth two-and-a-half lakh including illegal liquor from his possession. A case has been registered against the accused under the Excise Act.

Excise Controller Sajendra Mori said that the informer had informed that a man carrying illegal liquor in an auto-rickshaw and was about to pass near Manit Tiraha. On this, the team was deployed for checking on the spot.

During checking, the team stopped an auto and searched it, and 325 quarters of country liquor was recovered from it. During interrogation, the accused revealed his identity as Manish Yadav, a resident of Rahul Nagar. The accused has been sent to judicial custody by the excise team. Along with this, information is being collected about the source of illegal liquor. In the investigation, the shop and the agent who is found to be giving liquor, then strict action will be taken against them by the excise staff.
