A 26-year-old private company employee was killed after the motorcycle he was riding pillion hit a divider in Shahpura area. The rider was reportedly drunk and he escaped with injuries as he was wearing a helmet. The bike was dragged for over 50 meters that led to his death, said police.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Sarthak Sharma, a resident of BDA Colony in Salaiya. He worked as HR officer in a private firm while his father runs an electric parts shop in Manisha market. It was around 10.45 pm, he was returning from Chunbhatti with his friend Ayush on a bike. As they reached near Baba Nagar area, the bike of speed suddenly increased and it hit a divider. ASI Ramesh Dubey said the incident occurred near Swarn Jayanti park where the bike hit a divider and was dragged for over 50 meters while brushing aside the divider.
A display board was also damaged due to collision with one of the riders, he said. The accident was so severe that their shoes were removed on the scene. ASI Dubey said the rider Ayush was heavily drunk but he was wearing helmet. He has sustained injuries but his condition is stated to be stable. On the other hand, Sarthak died in the accident. Although, he was not drunk, added the cop. He said we will also book the rider for negligent driving that led to his friend’s death.
