Jabalpur’s first ‘Climate Action Plan’ for Environment Day event

The live telecast of main event organised on World Environment Day in Bhopal was done during the district-level programme held in the city at Sanskriti Bhawan on Monday. A number of public representatives, volunteers and officials participated in the programme and took a pledge to bring Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s messages for a clean environment to the ground. They also felicitated more than 50 environmental enthusiasts who excel in environment conservation work. Later, the public representatives and officials also launched the first ‘Climate Action Plan’ for Jabalpur.
During the programme, senior officials and employees of District administration, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, Jabalpur Smart City, Regional Pollution Control Board and Education Department took pledge to spread the message of a clean environment to every individual and carry cloth bags while going to the market from home. They also appealed for everyone's participation by giving the campaign the form of a people's movement so that city's environment can be clean. On the occasion, more than 50 environmental enthusiasts who excel in environment conservation work were honored on the stage by the guests and officials. Nukkad natak (street play) was also staged by Kadam Foundation to provide the message of environmental conservation. At the end of the programme, everyone took an oath.
Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp on World Environment Day. Thereafter, all guests present on the stage were welcomed with a bouquet of flowers. Those present on the occasion were Deputy Chairman of Jan Abhiyan Parishad Dr. Jitendra Jamdar, Deputy Commissioner JMC, Manvendra Singh, Assistant Commissioner Manoj Srivastava, Regional Officer Alok Jain, Executive Engineer Kamlesh Srivastava, Rachayita Avasthi, District Education Officer Ghanashyam Soni, Veena Vargis and others.
