Popular tigress of Kanha National Park ‘Neelam’ (T-65), known as Princess of Kanha, has received injury for the second time in past five months. Recently, a video went viral on social media in which a big cut is seen on her jaws. Officials said that she might have received injury in a fight with other big cat. The park management is treating the tigress with antibiotics medicines through dart. The feline is under strict observation of forest team. The cat frequently sighted with her three cubs in Kanha zone of the park. After video displaying the wounds of Neelam went viral on social media, forest officials were put on toes. They said that another tiger has attacked the tigress and she got the injury.
Dr Sandeep Agrawal, Veterinary doctor at Kanha National Park, said that tigress was treated with antibiotics medicine about two days back through dart. He said that tigress is being monitored and all essential medicines are being provided to keep the tigress healthy. Earlier in January this year, tigress Neelam got several injury after fighting with tigress Mohini. Veterinary doctors monitored the tigress and also operated her for recovery. The tigress had several injury on her face and other body parts. After performing surgery, Kanha team monitored the tigress for many days. After that she was looking healthy, taking care of cubs properly and also killing prey along with cubs. After five months of the incident, the tigress received several injuries which put the forest officials in jittery. However, this time she has not received major injury. She was operated on January 11, after tranquillisation. She also got 30 to 40 stitches to heal the wounds. Her cubs were recovered with the help of elephants and after her operation, she started killing prey in 72 hours. The tigress has three cubs and all are around 7 to 8 months old. In her life, tigress has delivered 13 cubs.
