State Government has asked the Education Officers of all Zilla Parishads and others in Maharashtra to consider students whose Aadhar is not validated, for ‘Sanch Manyata’. This is a major development for both students and teachers of schools. There are 28 lakh students whose Aadhar validation has not been done in the state. The decision has saved thousands of teachers from falling into the excess category. At present, 80 per cent of students have been recognised provisionally and the process of validating students from the schools has started.

A student’s name becomes invalid if there is a discrepancy in his name, or if he does not have an Aadhaar card, or if the student can have an adverse effect on the sanctioned status of the school in any way for the year 2022-23. Schools with such students will have to apply to the Block Education Officer of respective tehsils, along with the list of the students’ names. Education Officer (Extension) and Centre Head will help in ensuring the regular presence of the students in schools. Those found regular will be taken into account for Sanch Manyata (which fixes student-teachers ratio in government schools).

Even after severe opposition to the drive of Aadhaar validation, the State Government made Aadhaar mandatory for school education. According to many organisations, the process of Sanch Manyata, should only be on the basis of student enrollment submitted on the portal by schools and not Aadhaar registrations. State Convenor of BJP Teachers Aaghadi Dr Kalpana Pande, and Nagpur Divisional Convenor Anil Shivankar constantly pursued the matter with Government. Recently both met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. They have demanded that all the admitted students should be recognised.

After the instructions received from Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Department of School Education and Sports through the state's Director of Primary Education Sharad Gosavi and Director of Secondary Education Sampat Suryavanshi issued a letter on June 7 for general inclusion of all Aadhaar-validated and non-validated students. The Education Extension Officer and the head of the center will ensure the proper verification of such students and in their verification, the regular students will be taken into consideration for recognition. Due to such orders given by the education department to all the education officers in the state, all the students having Aadhaar cards that have not been validated will be formally considered. This will led to thousands of teachers in the state getting saved from becoming excess.
