In a shocking incident, a four-an-half-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour at village Garouli under Morwa Thana in Singrauli district on Friday morning. Locals caught the accused and thrashed him black and blue before handing him to the police. The victim used to call the accused ‘Mama’. As per complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the incident took place at around 9.30 am on Friday, when she left her three daughters with the accused who were watching television at home, to get some household articles. She had covered half distance as the shop was close by, she heard her daughter’s screams and immediately returned home to see her four-an-half year old daughter crying.
When she asked her about the matter, the youth tried to distract her by saying that he wringed her hand that’s why she was crying. However, the innocent girl immediately disclosed the bitter truth what the accused did to her. The mother was left speechless and started screaming.
On hearing her screams, locals assembled outside. On receiving the information, girl’s father also reached home.
Locals became aggressive after knowing the youth’s heinous crime and thrashed him badly before handing him over to police. The accused has been identified as 22-year-old Shibbu Panika, son of Ramlakhan Panika. Observing the sensitivity of the incident, Inspector U P Singh immediately informed senior officials. Following which, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Yusuf Quraishi and under the guidance of SDOP Rajeev Pathak, police lodged a case under Sections 450, 376, 376AB, 376(2)(n), 377 of IPC, 5(m), 5(1.6) Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against Shibbu. According to police, both the victim and accused were taken for medical examination as after the unnatural act, the minor girl’s condition was serious. As per directives of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and guidance of Collector Arun Parmar and SP Quraishi, house of the accused was demolished with a bulldozer within 8 hours of the incident.
