To vent ire against non-fulfillment of long-pending demands, tens of thousands of employees of 18 Municipal Corporations and 413 Municipal Councils across the State conducted a signature campaign, on Tuesday. Accordingly, the employees of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, under the auspices of various Employee Unions participated in the campaign in large number and extended their support. Senior office-bearers of the Employee Unions have sent signatures to the Chief Minister, Minister of ministry concerned and Principal Secretary and demanded to fulfill their genuine demands early.
 
Union leaders Kapil Dubey and others said they have started the protest with signature campaign, on Tuesday and if their demands are not fulfilled early, they will intensify the protest and stage demonstrations across the State. Underlining the long-pending demands, leaders of various Employee Unions and Federations said they have been demanding regularisation of employees working in civic bodies since September 1, 2016 and the 190 community organisers working in various civic bodies for 30 years. Likewise, they have also been demanding regularisation of daily wagers and other employees, already working on class III and IV vacant posts. Immediate check on undeclared deductions from octroi/ passenger tax compensation amount given to civic bodies.
 
They are also raising voice for restoration of old pension scheme, provide benefit of time scale pay scale from January 24, 2008, including the posts of Computer Operators in the service recruitment rules of the civic bodies, increase the limit of establishment expenditure of civic bodies to 70 per cent, ensure improvements in erroneous recruitment rules of the urban bodies, determine deputation period of officers and employees posted on deputation in municipal corporations and check illegal mergers of various bodies of the State etc.
