Speeding truck crushes 50 sheep to death

 

 

A speeding truck mowed down a herd of sheep, crushing to death a whopping 50 sheep on the spot on Bhandara-Nagpur highway in Mauda police station area early Tuesday morning. According to police, shepherd Gova Rabbani (53), a resident of Kutch, Gujarat, was taking the sheep towards Chapegadi Kuhi at around 3.15 am. A speeding truck mowed down the herd killing over 50 sheep on the spot and seriously injuring 15. The truck driver fled with his vehicle. Rabbani alerted the police about the accident. Vehicular traffic on the highway was thrown out of the gear following the accident. Staff of Mauda police led by PI Hemantkumar Kharabe.

 

The injured sheep were rushed to a veterinary hospital while the dead ones were sent for post-mortem. The accident reportedly caused a loss of Rs five lakh to the shepherd. A case under relevant provisions of IPC and Motor Vehicle Act was registered by Mauda police. The police are scanning CCTV footage to establish identity of the truck involved.
