A 53-year-old woman was killed and her friend was injured after a speeding car crashed into the bus stop inside BRTS corridor, on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at the bus stop located in front of the Misrod Police Station. The incident triggered panic around and onlookers gathered at the scene. The cops also reached soon as the spot is located near the police station. Police said that the accused fled leaving the vehicle at the scene. The victims were waiting for bus to reach railway station, when the incident occurred. According to the police, Kusum Rani was a resident of a village near Bina. Rani and her husband Shyam Adivasi had come to Bhopal to meet their son. Their neighbours Chali Bai and her husband had also come to Bhopal.

 

Sub Inspector Khet Singh said that the car was coming from Bhopal and was heading towards Mandideep. At around 7 am, the locals saw the incident and informed police. Singh said that the car was at a high speed and it climbed on the bus stop after crashing into it, killing the woman on the spot. Chali Bai was sitting near Rani and she also sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital where the woman Rani was declared dead. The car was badly damaged and was towed to the police station by the cops. Police were yet to trace the accused.
