MY Mausi deals with complicated things very well. Her talking ability is impressive. She can convince anyone on any issue or topic. I find her very loving and she takes extra care of me. Recently I was suffering from high fever and it was aggravated by an allergy. It wouldn’t have mattered as the treatment would have taken its course. But my Mausi became very nervous - for my birthday fell in that week. The anxiousness that she felt, did not stop her from planning a surprise party on the D day. I was resting when suddenly I heard a commotion and was pleasantly surprised when my immediate family trooped in to wish me. Mausi took care not to invite anyone else except the immediate family as I was prone to outside infection. A thought had passed my mind that this birthday of mine, because of my condition would just pass by - but Mausi didn’t let that happen. She ensured that it was as memorable as the other birthdays that I had celebrated. There are many instances to narrate to show the special Mausi occupies in my life - for she has always stood by me - through thick and thin - through my best and worst phases.

One incident that comes to my mind is when our apartment was being renovated. Since this was a major reconstruction work, we were expected to shift out to another place to live for a few months. We shifted to a house that belonged to one of our relatives. It was an uninhabited house, and hence it was unkempt. There was a lot of work to be done for us to make it livable. Mausi was not the one to be bogged by any kind of work. She picked up a broom, and both of us together cleaned, swept, dusted and made the house inhabitable. Months passed by - even though our apartment was very nice, I never really missed it much. Because I had my favourite person beside me. Which reiterated the fact that a house is made a home by the people who live in it. The love, the light, the energy that people bring into the four walls is what turns it into a home - a place where the family members, at the end of the day return to. My Mausi was one such person who had the power to turn any house into a home. In fact, I rate my Mausi on a higher pedestal than my own mother. Geeta Dixit, a psychologist mainly a marriage and family therapist says, “Humans experience every kind of feeling in one’s lifetime. Love, affection, anger, hate, jealousy and many more.

The strongest feeling among all others is of love. family, partner, child or maybe pet love.” The most powerful and impregnable one is family love. As we spend our growing up with our family, we share a special bond with them. They build our character. Nourishment and care given by them let us develop into a capable person. Love doesn’t choose a person’s health, wealth and age, it simply happens. Love between a male and female is dependent on satisfaction too but a mother’s love is unconditional. She can take any kind of risk for her child. Her inability doesn’t reflect on her child. She does as much as she can to full fill her child’s needs or wishes. Mother is on the first priority and Mausi is second mother. She grants us the confidence that she is always there. Affection and support dwell in her. A family is a unique combination of love, care, affection, support and everything good for every member. Family love is the most prestigious one.
