An important meeting of District Road Safety Committee was organised in the conference hall at the Collectorate, on Thursday. Collector, Saurabh Kumar Suman chaired the meeting. During the meeting, he emphasised the importance of adhering to traffic rules for all citizens. He urged citizens not to park vehicles on roads as it disrupts traffic flow.
He also asked to wear seat belts while driving four-wheelers and helmet while riding two-wheelers. He also held significant discussion on issue of encroachments by vegetable vendors and shopkeepers along main roads. He directed for repairing of damaged road and stressed repairing of black spots to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel for citizens.
 
The Collector also held talk regarding parking and diversion system for smooth operation of traffic in Gaurighat as
well as installation of sliding railings at Jhanda Chowk-Jilhari crossing to prevent unauthorized vehicle entry. During the meeting, concerned officials informed that temporary shops are being placed on roads from Bada Fauhra to Sarafa Bazaar, causing a shortage of parking space for vehicles. The Collector directed Jabalpur Municipal Corporation and Police administration to take action against vehicles parked in no-parking zones. He also discussed improvement of traffic and parking arrangements near ISBT, Krishi Upaj Mandi, Transport Nagar, Labor Chowk to Kachhpura Bridge and Garha Bazaar to Shahi Naka road. During the meeting, the Collector also discussed barricading on both sides of roads for smooth traffic management during construction of Katanga bridge. He directed to expedite construction of flyover and install information boards to ensure cautious driving and prevent accidents.
