Ajni police have arrested a resident doctor of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for allegedly attempting to make a video of a female doctor while she was taking bath. The incident took place in the GMCH hostel, that houses all the resident doctors. According to GMCH administration, a resident doctor Darshan Agrawal, Junior Resident-II, attached to Orthopaedic Department, was found trying to film a female resident doctor, also JR-II at the Dermatology Department, while she was taking bath on Thursday night (July 13, 2023).

The GMCH administration has separated washrooms for girls and boys. According to the administration, Agrawal came from another wing to the girls section and kept his mobile phone inside the washroom to make video. Just then another girl happened to come there and saw Agrawal keeping his mobile phone there. She confronted him and alerted the girl inside the bathroom. Caught in the act, Agrawal ran away. The victim then lodged a complaint with the Hostel Warden Dr Prajwalit Gour. Dr Gour immediately conveyed it to Dean Dr Raj Gajbhiye who immediately formed a six-member probe panel to look into the matter. The panel consists of Dr Prajwalit Gaur, Dr Archana Deshpande, Dr Devendra Mahore, Dr Manish Thakre, Dr Jayesh Mukhi, Dr Uday Narlewar. Dr Gajbhiye told ‘The Hitavada’, “After checking all the aspects, the panel found Dr Agrawal prima-facie guilty.”

A group of residents alleged that immediately after the incident, some people tried to beat the accused doctor. The panel probed that aspect also but it did not find any substance in that allegation as there was no injury mark on his body. As per police record, Agrawal hails from Dhamangaon Railway, did his MBBS from Medical College in Ambejogai, and took admission to Orthopaedic Post Graduation in GMCH. The Committee members did not find any video related to current incident on his mobile phone, but in the investigation of police, some other things were noticed. According to police sources, one girl intern had lodged internal complaint against Agrawal in the past for objectionable move. Police have registered an offence against Darshan Agrawal under section 354 (C) of Indian Penal Code and arrested him. He was produced in court on Saturday and was released on bail.
