The statue of former Mayor Vishwanath Dubey was unveiled on his birth anniversary in a grand ceremony organized at Nehru Park in front of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation headquarters, on Monday. A number of distinguished personalities including Shri Shri 1008 Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand ji Sharada Peeth, Dwarka, Shri Shri 1008 Mahamandaleshwar Ishwaranand Ji, Mahant Kalyan Das Ji Maharaj, representatives of saints, social workers, businessmen and others dignitaries. The statue was unveiled amid recitation of mantras. Later, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh along with family members of late Dubey including Sumit Kalia and daughter Gaura Dubey performed worship and paid respects to the revered saints and received their blessings. Likewise, they also felicitated as many as five former Mayors of the city, acknowledging their contributions beyond partisan politics.
Mayor Singh accompanied by Shekhar Dubey, Sumit Kalia, and Gaura Dubey extended warm welcome to former Mayors Kalyani Pandey, Sushila Singh, Prabhat Sahu, Dr Swati Godbole, and Sadanand Godbole. Addressing a huge gathering, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh expressed his gratitude, stating that it was an auspicious day for him as he was elected on the same date last year. He considered himself fortunate to have the opportunity to unveil the statue of former Mayor Vishwanath Dubey exactly one year later. Later, former Corporator Mukesh Rathore and Tejkumar Bhagat mentioned the path of city development they had walked alongside former Mayor Vishwanath Dubey during their tenure as Mayor-in-Council members. At the end, former Mayor Dubey’s wife, Anjali Dubey, Sumit Kalia and daughter Gaura Dubey expressed gratitude towards the guests.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha, former Union Minister Suresh Pachauri, former Union Minister Arun Yadav, former Legislative Assembly Speaker N P Prajapati, MLA Ajay Vishnoi, former MP Rameshwar Nikhara, MLAs Tarun Bhanoth, Lakhn Ghanghoria, Omkar Singh Markam, Ashok Rohani, Vinay Saxena, former Divisional Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Choudhary, senior social worker and industrialist Kailash Gupta, Dinesh Yadav, Ravi Gupta, Kaushalya Gotia and others.
