CHIEF Commissioner, CGST, Central Excise & Customs, Nagpur Zone, Nagpur R C Sankhala on Saturday said that the number of GST registration in the zone has gone up to 1.9 lakh in June 2023 from its previous mark of 60,000 in June 20217. “This widening of tax payers’ base has also resulted in hike in revenue collection from Rs 11,000 crore in 2016- 17 to Rs 17,000 crore in 2022- 23,” he said while addressing a the CGST officers, staff, professional and others gathered to celebrate GST Day CGST and Central Excise, Customs Nagpur Zone office at Civil Lines in the city. Sankhala further added that the new tax regime has come a long way since it was launched on July 1, 2017. “A lot of development has taken place in the tax collection system in the last six years.
 
However we still have a long way to go forward,” he said. On the occasion, Pooja Hirwade, a professional Bharat Natyam exponent, was invited for Ganesh Vandana. Presentations on various topics in view of the completion of six years of GST were also held. The Departmental Officers Abhishek Anand, Joint Commissioner, Shiva P Reddy, Deputy Director (Cost), Prashant Warkar, Superintendent, Shashishekhar Sinha,Superintendent,spokeon various topics of GST such as GST-its achievements, its journey so far, challenges ahead and way forward.
 
Further, newly recruited Inspectors of the Department presented songs and recited poetry on GST while Arunima Siriah, Senior Hindi Translator, recited a poem penned byVijay Risi, Commissioner, Nagpur-I. Yoagita Mulani, Inspector, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the newly recruited Inspectors. Vote of thanks was proposed by B Bikshapathi, Assistant Commissioner. SuperintendentsShashishekhar Sinha and Manjusha Pardikar conducted the proceedings.
